Engineering / Operations Manager
East Sussex - £40,000- £50,000

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Engineering & Operations Manager to join an exciting business that is embarking on a long term growth plan. They supply specialist products a range of customers worldwide.

Main Purpose:

Managing the production and R & D departments ensuring that production targets are met and the design of existing and new products are optimised for production. Designing and implementing processes that deliver a flexible and engaged workforce

Responsibilities of Job

  • Managing the production and or R&D teams
  • Driving production output
  • Improving production yields
  • Organizing and facilitating staff training
  • Managing the maintenance of production assets
  • Designing and implementing processes that deliver a flexible and engaged workforce
  • Managing the R & D team’s priorities and
  • Implementing measures and KPI’s to give visibility of departmental effectivity
  • Promote and manage robust record keeping

Skills & Experience

  • An excellent understanding of engineering and instrument products
  • Managing a diverse workforce, from technical to shop floor staff
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • Experienced in the manufacturing of electro mechanical devices
  • Strong IT skills
  • Ability to grasp concepts quickly and think beyond traditional methods to promote continuous improvement
  • Problem solving and implementing improved process
  • Lean manufacturing methods such as 7 wastes and 5s
  • Appreciation of electronic and mechanical design
  • Product Development Process knowledge
  • Project management expertise
