An opportunity for an experienced Engineering Manager with excellent staff leadership skills to head up a Design and Development team of 20 engaged in the development of niche vehicles and ancillary products.
Engineering/manufacturing processes are based primarily around fabrication and weldments so prior experience in heading up Design/Development activities for related processes (fabrication and assembly with electro mechanical products) is desirable, together with experience of stress and performance calculations.
As Engineering Manager you will organise engineering resources to deliver effective technical solutions and ensure the ongoing development of new and existing products.
This is a key role in a market leading international business and requires the ability to work closely with Sales, Production, Procurement and After Sales/Service, as well as interfacing with customers and suppliers.
You will be responsible for developing your team, ensuring that you achieve the right blend of skills to deliver and making sure that talented Engineers are retained and developed within the business.
Compliance with global and regional standards, Quality, process improvement and meeting time and budgetary targets are all in your remit.
Your mentoring, delegation and leadership skills and experience must be evident through the selection process and in addition we expect the Engineering Manager to be Degree Qualified (or equivalent) in a relevant Engineering discipline, ideally backed up with membership of a recognised Engineering Institution.
You should have proven skills in being able to quickly understand a business’s manufacturing capabilities and be a confident and effective communicator with good Project Management and IT skills. Full familiarity with Continuous Improvement is essential.
