THE ROLE:

To provide inspirational leadership to the full engineering team in order to deliver excellent performance across Engineering and Manufacturing Operations. Also to be part of the site management team, responsible to set the strategic direction for the Mill.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
  • Manage, coach and develop a multi-disciplined team of  direct reports through lean leadership, effective performance management and focussed objective setting
  • Lead and development of Maintenance best practices and strategy across site and act as high level engineering resource for the Mill
  • Contribute, as a member of the Barrow Mill Senior Management Team, to the development and implementation of Business Plans, policies and practices which meet the current and anticipated needs of the site and its customers
  • Support and lead specific operational strategies for Engineering, Process Development, Facilities and Environmental Services
  • Proactively sustain and contribute to the development of the Environmental Health and Safety system
  • Manage the site’s capital process and ensure short and long term capital needs are identified and progressed
  • Lead and development of Maintenance best practices and strategy across site and act as high level engineering resource for the Mill, providing advice and support where needed
  • Manage as appropriate the introduction of new products, processes or assets onto site through our teams and lead the strategy for energy reduction across the site
  • Ensure all site contracts relating to Maintenance, Plant Condition and Performance are managed in an effective manner
  • Manage the mills apprentice and technical development systems ensuring future succession in Engineering.WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU:

  • Experience in a leadership role within a large, complex manufacturing site.

  • An FMCG background, although other fast-moving manufacturing environments will be considered.

  • Significant engineering experience, ideally with a degree level qualification or similar.

  • A tireless determination to continuously improve practices and processes to delight our customers, achieve our business targets, and provide development opportunities for team members.

  • Experience of change management and project management on large scale capital projects.

  • A strong understanding of maintenance processes and procedures and Health and Safety considerations.

  • Proven experience in leading, coaching and motivating individuals to achieve excellent results.

  • Experience of continuous process operations.

  • Experience of company business processes.

  • Exposure to Health & Safety policy and procedures.

  • Budget preparation and monitoring
