GENERAL SUMMARY:
Our client is a global provider of highly engineered products, differentiated industrial technologies, and innovative solutions that serve a wide range of end markets and customers.
The role of Engineering Manager involves:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Leading a small team of experienced mechanical design and manufacturing engineers
- Oversee the company’s product range and drive the already existing continuous improvement (Lean) culture
- Lead new product development activities to satisfy emerging market needs and product improvements
- Manage product and process changes
- Participate in Aerospace contract bidding processes and lead all design and qualification activities
- Be responsible for product test planning and execution using the companies test facilities
- Develop bespoke test and assembly automation equipment
- Lead failure (internal and external) investigations and prepare reports
- Participate and contribute to the Company’s monthly KPI meetings
- Responsibility for the coordination of new product development and engineering of products in collaboration with the sales/marketing (commercial function) within our business
- Co-operate with other locations within FMC to ensure leverage of know-how and technical solutions within the group
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Preferred Education:
- Bachelor’s degreein Mechanical, Aerospace or Automotive Engineering (Required)
- Master’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace or Automotive Engineering (Preferred)
- Chartered status by an approved UK body (i.e. IMEchE)
Required Length & Type of Experience:
- 3 years’ minimum experience in ISO 9001 accredited product design and manufacturing
- 3 years’ minimum experience in managing professional engineers
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
The candidate must demonstrate sound knowledge in:
- Pressurized systems
- System dynamics (springs and dampers)
- Systems’ Engineering
- Product testing and test equipment design
- Data Acquisition and Control (DAC) systems
- Product Data Management systems (PDM)
- Product design (SolidWorks CAD package)
- Lean/ Agile design and manufacturing
- Agile Project Management
