Engineering Manager: Aerospace/Aviation

GENERAL SUMMARY:

The role of Engineering Manager involves:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Leading a small team of experienced mechanical design and manufacturing engineers
• Oversee the company’s product range and drive the already existing continuous improvement (Lean) culture
• Lead new product development activities to satisfy emerging market needs and product improvements
• Manage product and process changes
• Participate in Aerospace contract bidding processes and lead all design and qualification activities
• Be responsible for product test planning and execution using the companies test facilities
• Develop bespoke test and assembly automation equipment
• Lead failure (internal and external) investigations and prepare reports
• Participate and contribute to the Company’s monthly KPI meetings
• Responsibility for the coordination of new product development and engineering of products in collaboration with the sales/marketing (commercial function) within our business
• Co-operate with other locations within FMC to ensure leverage of know-how and technical solutions within the group

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Preferred Education:

• Bachelor’s degreein Mechanical, Aerospace or Automotive Engineering (Required)
• Master’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace or Automotive Engineering (Preferred)
• Chartered status by an approved UK body (i.e. IMEchE)

Required Length & Type of Experience:

• 3 years’ minimum experience in ISO 9001 accredited product design and manufacturing
• 3 years’ minimum experience in managing professional engineers

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

The candidate must demonstrate sound knowledge in:

• Pressurized systems
• System dynamics (springs and dampers)
• Systems’ Engineering
• Product testing and test equipment design
• Data Acquisition and Control (DAC) systems
• Product Data Management systems (PDM)
• Product design (SolidWorks CAD package)
• Lean/ Agile design and manufacturing
• Agile Project Management
