Engine Test Operations Supervisor

Our client provides vehicle test and validation services to customers in the automotive, transport, tyre, petrochemical, defence and security industries. They are looking for an Engine Test Operations Supervisor to oversee a busy engine test environment with world class facilities.

The permanent role is based near Bedford and offers competitive salary and attractive benefits for the right candidate.

The Supervisor will lead a customer focused team using effective feedback and communication skills to deliver company goals whilst assessing work performance and identifying areas for improvement and training. This role is complex and includes supervision of employees but is not limited to this. The supervisor is also responsible for coaching, working to resolve issues and serving as a link between staff members and upper management.

The ideal candidate will be a competent and driven individual who will be able to guide their team. The supervisor will be well-versed in processes under the role's responsibility and be results-driven. The role is to ensure that operations are carried out safely, productively and to the required quality to ensure profitability with sustainable growth and continuous improvement.

Role Responsibilities:

*Motivates, guides, and mentors team members to exceed goals and creates a positive environment
*Supervises team members in duties and performance, providing feedback where necessary and reporting team strengths and areas of improvement to management
*Advises management in hiring and termination decisions where necessary
*Identifies skills gaps and organises appropriate training methods and documents
* Trains new team members to company standards
*Oversees work quality and verifies satisfactory meeting of company and customer standards
*Works with other team leaders and management to set and evaluate stocks, logistics, projects, and overall goals
*Strictly adheres to deadlines by communicating expectations to team members, setting goals and motivating team members
*Connects with customers and develops strong relationships to encourage repeat visitation
*Creates an atmosphere centred on delivering superior customer service
*Maintains strong working knowledge of department services and offers technical support and information to team members
*Implementation of operational targets and measurement techniques

Required Experience, Skills and Qualifications:

*City and Guild in Automotive or Engineering
*(Full Automotive / engineering apprenticeship or HNC)
*Must have a large breadth of engine test / build experience preferably in an OEM or prototype build environment
*Must have a large breadth of experience leading and supervising a team
*Must have a large breadth of experience within engine development testing techniques and methodology
*Strong understanding of gasoline and diesel engine mechanical fundamentals
*Planning for coordination and efficient operations
*Strong and clear communication in a technical and fast paced environment
*Customer service
*Personnel management
*Strong understanding of team work
*Good understanding of H&S practices
*Time management and organisation
*Professional attitude
*Ability to work under pressure
*Excellent attention to detail with out of the box thinking.
*Self-motivated / Forward thinking / Right first time attitude
*Continuous improvement attitude
*Full UK driving licence
