Enforcement Officer

With an annual spend of £130 million per year, and a high number of exciting planned programmes of works, Southend Borough Council are looking for an additional Enforcment Officer to join their successful development control, and planning team. To undertake planning enforcement investigations and general enforcement work in accordance with the requirements of Town and Country Planning (and related) legislation.

To contribute to the efficient and effective operation of the Development Control Group and the achievement of its aims, objectives, statutory obligations and targets.

Candidates must have basic knowledge of relevant regulatory services legislation and relevant enforcement procedures, together with experience of Enforcement of functions within a Local Authority or other statutory body. Candidates need to following skills:-

Good written, numerical, verbal and keyboard skills.

Ability to seek out and understand the requirements of clients / customers.

3. Planning and Performing
Follows procedures / policies and keeps to schedules.

4. Analysing, Interpreting and Judging
Ability to seek out relevant information and use it appropriately.
Able to follow detailed procedures, and complete tasks within prescribed time limits.

5. Organisational Awareness
Understands the overall functions, aims and direction of the Council.
Actively seeks to promote an open sharing culture across the organisation.
