Role: Energy Procurement Manager

Location: Lancashire

Salary: £40,000

The UK’s leading Energy Cost Recovery Agency continues to grow from strength to strength, due to this growth they are looking for an Energy Procurement Manager to be responsible for heading up the delivery and development of energy procurement services. working closely with the Energy Team and the wider business. As a subject matter expert, you will support the sales team in client meetings, and will work with clients to identify opportunities to meet their needs and develop appropriate energy procurement solutions to present to them.


  • Analysing the energy markets to identify suitable purchasing opportunities for clients
  • Co-ordinating fixed and flexible supply contract tenders on behalf of customers including:
  • Preparing tender data from clients, suppliers, DNOs and other relevant third parties
  • Analysing offers to provide a fair comparison across a range of metrics (financial, contractual, customer service, etc.)
  • Negotiating with suppliers to secure the most advantageous deal available
  • Compiling reports to customers in which informed recommendations are made
  • Managing the full on-boarding process to ensure that new contracts/prices are successfully implemented
  • Producing regular market intelligence reports for clients
  • Managing and developing client relationships to maximise energy procurement client retention and growth
  • Developing energy procurement tools & processes, and supporting their implementation and use within the business
  • Providing expert input on pricing models, contracting arrangements and client value offer
  • Maintaining and developing expert market knowledge of the energy markets and energy contracting options
  • Supporting sales, marketing and business development teams with energy procurement product knowledge


  • Proven experience as an energy procurement consultant, or a buyer/category manager with responsibility for utilities and fuels.
  • Proven experience of working with or within major energy users and managing client relationships
  • Good commercial awareness and experience in providing technical/product support to sales teams
  • Professional, pro-active approach with excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work and liaise with all departments and form good working relationships
  • A creative approach to problem solving and a good eye for detail
  • Excellent organisation skills with the ability to prioritise workloads
  • Strong negotiating skills
  • An assertive and positive attitude
  • Good numeric skills and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative
  • Must have a flexible approach to work
