Energy Operations Manager - Government Schemes

My client - the UK’s only fully integrated provider of home phone, mobile, broadband, gas and electricity services are currently recruiting for an Energy Operations Manager to join their team.

Reporting to the Head of Energy Operations, you will be responsible for the leadership and support of a small but very specialised team who are responsible for the management of energy schemes.

The team are responsible for the following schemes:

  • Warm Home Discount
  • Feed-in- tariffs
  • Green Deal

What you will actually do:

  • Continually review, improve and drive team performance
  • Work with the team leader and team members to create an enjoyable, highly motivated working environment, whilst maintaining productivity at all times
  • Assist and support team leaders to identify, motivate and manage talent within their teams
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders internally and externally
  • Prepare for and facilitate regular audits of the schemes
  • Identify process improvements and implement change to improve the efficiency of the department
  • Work with the wider energy operations teams such as regulation and projects to ensure that industry license and code changes are implemented with minimal disruption to the day to day running of the department
  • Review and approve regulatory reporting and ensure that deadlines are met
  • Manage recruitment for the department
  • Address attendance, conduct and performance related issues with the support of HR team
  • Represent the company at meetings/working groups with third party suppliers/stakeholders and ensure that feedback is provided to the relevant internal stakeholders

What you will need:

  • Experience in management at an equivalent level
  • A good understanding of the energy industry and the role of a retail energy supplier
  • Experience representing a supplier at meetings with the regulator, industry meetings and working groups
  • Experience facilitating audits
  • A working understanding of the Feed-in- tariff, Green Deal and Warm Home discount schemes
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • A real eye for detail with the ability to analyse data and spot trends
  • Strategic long term thinking and planning
  • Excellent performance and people management skills
  • Ability to set and manage performance against appropriate KPI’s
  • Commercial awareness
  • The ability to work to stretching deadlines under pressure
