Summary ofrole:

Act as part ofBusiness Partnering team to provide financial support to Enabling Functions todrive planning and overall performance

Mainactivities/responsibilities:

  • SupportVP Finance, Enabling Functions as a business partner and advisor to the EnablingFunctions teams, advising on financial matters and ensuring delivery ofbusiness and operational objectives

  • SupportVP Finance, Enabling Functions in providing insight and analysis to thebusiness to aid forward looking decision making

  • Oversightof actual monthly results and KPIs and informed and insightful commentarythereon

  • Highlightkey risks and opportunities within functions and providing insights

  • Supportdecisions on project and portfolio investments, ensuring they are measuredagainst financial targets

  • Identifyand address operational improvement and cost opportunities. Contribute and support toTechnology, Operations and Enabling Functions Finance transformationinitiatives as required.

  • Develop& prepare financial business cases supporting Enabling Functions withsupport from PFS. Support decisionson pipeline investments, ensuring theyare measured against financial targets

  • Workcollaboratively with PFS to deliver key reporting, planning and forecastingprocesses providing accurate and timely future facing data on which to basedecisions

  • Understandthe businesses regulatory and audit requirements and ensure they are adhered to

Consistent and extensive collaboration withinFinance and across Pearson, including colleagues in Geographies, Productgroups, Enabling Functions, Country hub operations and Centres of excellenceorganised at the Pearson level

  • Strong performance againstKPIs and targets

  • Accurate and timely deliveryof investment and business cases

  • Effective involvement of PFSin all relevant processes

  • Successful execution of theEnabling Programme

  • Operating model and new waysof working implemented across Finance

  • Operational improvements andcost opportunities identified and realised

  • Strong collaboration withProduct groups, Geographies, Enabling Functions, Group Control, Finance Centresof Excellence and with embedded Finance teams across Pearson

  • Improved forecasting andplanning efficiency and accuracy

Leverage of analytics tools to focus organisation on value-addedactivities

Qualifications

Qualificationsand experience required:

  • Qualifiedwith demonstrable experience in management accounting role

  • FluentEnglish speaker

  • Experienceworking in a multi-national matrix organization.

  • Strongunderstanding of materiality and ability to prioritize across competing agendas

  • Abilityto conduct investment analysis and capital asset evaluation.

  • Abilityto identify business risks and implementation of tactics to mitigate

  • Understandingof financial control, business performance management and process optimizationand experience of working in more than one of these areas.

  • Anunderstanding of putting internal financial results into an external marketcontext.

  • Awarenessof multiple business models and experience of working with more than one.

  • Understandingof finance specialist areas: tax, treasury, M&A, compliance, corporategovernance and ability to utilize proper judgement to involve them as necessary.

Participation in international projects, may beshort or long term (preferred but not required)
