We have a number of part time posts available for grounded candidates who enjoy working with people, have a good level of confidence and social skills and display a high level of emotional maturity. If you are interested in a future in psychology, care and specifically the area of special needs, this role offers an opportunity to work with an individual on a 1-2-1 basis, where training is provided to work on a targeted program and evaluate the progress, growth and development into greater social and emotional maturity, within a family setting.
The role will be mainly based at the client's home, which is in a rural location, but will include taking the client out and about to access work, college and social opportunities. The client, who is a full time wheelchair user with Cerebral palsy, ASD, SPD and epilepsy, is a young adult who enjoys music and djing. He needs support and help with personal care as well as emotional support to access society and form relationships. It would be helpful if candidates can drive and have their own vehicle. Their are a number of different hours and days available, including weekends and evenings.
Although, it would be helpful to have an understanding of the autistic mind, epilepsy, SPD and cerebral palsy, it is not essential as training will be given.
We will be looking to recruit at least 1 applicant who has experience of Djing and is willing and enthusiastic to support the Client at his gigs, at least 1 who is a confident horse rider and has experience as a groom and at least 1 who is an experienced and confident traveller.
There is likely to be opportunities to travel, so candidates should have a valid passport. These positions are permanent and we would be grateful if only candidates who can commit to a minimum of 6 months would apply. However all applicants will be seriously considered.
Although this kind of work can be challenging, for the right candidates, it can be both rewarding and extremely fulfilling.
