The East of England Ambulance Trust in Bedford are seeking Emergency Dispatchers in response to requests for service from the public, healthcare colleagues and public safety agencies.

This is a temporary to Permanent job opportunity, full training and support will be given. This is a 24/7 operation and therefore you will be required to be flexible, 37.5 hours working week. Hourly pay rates from £11.52 to £18.43 dependant on shift, and after 12 weeks will be increased from £11.89 to £19.02 dependant on shift.  

Main Duties: You will form part of a team of Dispatchers who each provide management of front-line Trust resources over a specific geographical area, covering as a whole, the East of England region, on a 24/7 basis (365 days per year) working rotating shifts. This

team sits across three EOCs and where business continuity requires, there may be temporary movement of staff from one EOC to another.

You will have an understanding and appreciation of the model of high performance ambulance design to support and enhance effective and efficient utilisation of Trust resources.

You will manage and deploy resources to (and during), emergency, urgent and routine incidents in accordance with national and local policy, procedure and protocol. This may include Double Manned Emergency Ambulances, Single Responders, Operational Managers, Community First Responders, Air support, Emergency Care Practitioners (ECP), Intermediate Tier Ambulances, Patient Transport Services

(PTS), Private Agencies. There will also be incidents which require the attendance of Emergency Doctors, Trauma Teams and Critical Care Teams with extended pre-hospital skills.

Skills and qualifications required:

5 GCSEs at grade C or above (or an equivalent qualification) including English or equivalent, suitable Call Centre experience, IT literate, Driving licence, good communication skills both verbally and written.

At least 2 years experience within a customer care environment, Previous experience in a logistics/call centre environment desirable and 

Previous experience in the NHS desirable.
