We are currently recruiting for Emergency Call Handlers to start asap for training in Bedford. This is a temporary to permanent role. You will be required to work over a 24/7 basis, working rotating shifts from Mondays to Sundays. 37.5 hours per week.

The role will be working for the East of England Ambulance Service.

Role: You will be the first point of contact for incoming calls, prioritizing emergency calls over non emergency calls. You will also be communicating with GP's, hospitals, healthcare professionals, as well as dealing with calls from the general public. This role will require someone who will remain calm under pressure, as on occasions you could be dealing with distressed patients and relatives including traumatic situations and sometimes highly emotional/verbally abusive callers.

Pay: £10.09 - £17.68 per hour based upon various shifts

Hours: standard working hours are 37.5 Hours working week over 4 days per week

Training: You will receive a high level of training, to ensure you are supported in your new role.

Skills and Experience: Excellent customer service, experience, must be computer literate and excellent communicator over the telephone. You must be able to show empathy and compassion when required, and be able to manage and support others during times of stress. To work as part of an high performance team.

If you are successful in this role an Enhanced DBS check will be required which Reed will carry out on your behalf.
