Embedded Hardware System Design Engineer/ Project Manager

Permanent full time
Location: Port Talbot
Salary £24,000.00 - £40,000.00 per annum depending on experience plus benefits

The role
My client is launching a new product that will report and monitor the structural condition of electronic components. Involved in the full project lifecycle for a new and exciting creation you will work from initial design/ development to product release. This will require analysis of data derived from continuous monitoring to speed up progress towards commercial production and implementation. You will need to demonstrate strong experience within hardware, low power devices and will also be familiar with embedded software. Firmware development in C and with wireless networking communications.

Duties and responsibilities

· Prepare design documentation and specifications, help plan and create the hardware system infrastructure

· Design and develop hardware products, test plans, undertake full testing of all developments prior to release

· Identify bottlenecks, bugs and troubleshoot to devise solutions to product problems

· Produce fully completed PCB designs from specifications, creating/ modifying schematics/ netlists

· Symbol & footprint creation to IPC standards

Essential Qualifications, skills and experience

· Minimum 2nd class degree in Electronic Engineering

· Proven experience in schematics/ board PCB layout design i.e. Altium. Including SMT, PTH and multi-layer layout

· PCB Design practical experience

· Proven experience in embedded systems design; digital, analogue and RF circuit design

· Exposure to Product Life Cycle and Embedded Software Development methodologies

· The ability to integrate wireless modules such as WIFI, BLE, GSM and GPS into hardware

· Obtain, develop and maintain all relevant product design and technical documentation

· Design optimisation for EMI/RFI, thermal performance

· Experience with Hardware verification and validation
