Job Title: Project Engineer (Electronics)

Location: Cambridge.

Salary: £26-30k + Benefits

This role is an engineer position working within the electronics team to develop, support and test a range of technically leading electrical consumer products. Work will include supporting the electronics development of consumer products, design of product testing systems, execution of testing, reporting and presentation of results.

The successful applicant will be responsible for the following:-

  • Support the electronics team in the design and development of consumer products (from conception to manufacture)

  • Carry out hardware/firmware validation and fault-finding, reporting the results to more senior members of the team. A basic understanding of SVN, Bugzilla and microcontrollers would be highly beneficial

  • Schematic capture, library management and PCB layout using Altium, ensuring good practices and cost-savings are shared across projects

  • Liaise with mechanical engineers and PCB layout consultants to ensure the PCBs are designed correctly

  • PCB rework and prototyping (breadboard)

  • Design & development of product test rigs for lab and manufacture testing, including use of LabVIEW and PLC programming

  • Use test equipment including thermocouples, infrared cameras, oscilloscopes, DMM, current probes and power supplies

  • Product testing (EMC, safety and compliance)

  • Support the Quality Control team in the analysis of field returns

  • Product analysis to support market claims

  • Creation of presentation of test reports to a professional standard using statistical analysis

  • Early stage electronics development and testing of new technologies in heating and air control

  • Some management of junior team members

  • Take ownership and manage small work packages or projects providing regular updates and ensuring the deadlines are met

We are looking for the following skill s and attributes:-

  • Minimum 2:1 degree educated in electronics with good scientific method.

  • The role is ideal for a project engineer with strong experience in hand held electrical products

  • Ideally this is a post for a trained electronics engineer

  • Previous experience working within consumer product development (Preferable)

  • Energy and enthusiasm for product development working in a highly dynamic environment

  • Prepared to travel to China, EU and US
