Electronics Design CAD Engineer

P+S Personnel are pleased to be working on behalf of our clients who are currently seeking an Electronics Design CAD Engineer to join their team based in Great Yarmouth. This role will be to provide microelectronic product design and layout expertise ensuring successful change management, new product launch and customer satisfaction.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop both PCBA and thick film hybrid circuit layouts for new customer owned, customer funded and internal R&D products
  • Generate full drawing packs and associated manufacturing documents to support the above
  • Be the Engineering Lead for specific products and projects
  • Update drawings and associated manufacturing document packs
  • Provide Product Engineering support for current and new products in Manufacturing
  • Liaise with Customers and Design Partners to ensure designs meet performance requirements
  • Participate in cost saving and continuous improvement activities
  • Comply with EHS policies and applicable regulatory requirements
  • Undertake any other duties and responsibilities as required/instructed in order to maintain and/or improve the efficiency, quality and service of the Engineering Team

Job Objectives:

  • Ensure design work is carried out in a timely manner to meet customer deadlines
  • Undertake identified aspects of the design and development of new products
  • Actively improve or optimise aspects of design, function or processing of existing key products
  • Support other departments with urgent issues relating to existing designs or testing, and to formulate effective solutions

Education / Experience:

It is expected that applicants will be qualified to level 5, or better, of the Framework for Higher Education Qualifications. However, applicants will be considered in light of their technical knowledge, experience and demonstrable skills where formal qualifications at level 5 or above are incomplete or absent:

  • HND or Bachelor/Masters Degree in Electronics Engineering
  • Proven experience in Electronics Design and CAD
  • Practical understanding of microelectronics assembly
  • Experience in the Aerospace or similar industries

Technical Competencies:

Any or all the following are desirable, but not essential:

  • High reliability microelectronics design and development
  • Strong Electronics Engineering background
  • Software Design and Programming
  • Working knowledge of Pantheon / Eagle / AutoCad / Solidworks / Cam350 /
    GC Powerplace

Familiarity with:

  • PCBA techniques
  • Thick film hybrid technologies
  • Electronic test methodologies
  • Industry quality standards
  • Microsoft Office (especially Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • ERP / MRP systems

The working hours for this role will be 8am - 16:30pm Monday to Thursday and 8am - 13:30pm on Friday.
