Electronic Design Engineer - £35k-£40k - Tamworth

Groomfield Recruitment is working on behalf of their friendly and valued client based in Tamworth. They are looking to recruit an Electronic Design Engineer to start ASAP on a permanent basis.

Main purpose of job

This is an exciting opportunity as the business grows to develop our Electronics offer for that of our products. As the Electronics Design Engineer you will be reporting to the Technical Manager, the key purpose of the role is to ensure the smooth running and development of the electronic offer across the Business. The role will require some overseas travel.

Key Duties

  • Manage electronics biased projects

  • Apply research to the planning, design, development, and testing of new and existing products

  • Interpret initial concept design, prototype, test and bring to manufacture new products

  • Schematic capture and Layout of new projects

  • Writing embedded code for microprocessor projects

  • Researching and applying new technologies and concepts to the design of products

  • Work closely with the Technical Manager to ensure design is aligned to that of the business requirements

  • Materials selection

  • Producing design documentation

  • Pre-production support of new products

  • Checking / approving engineering data produced by the team

    Ideal Candidate

  • 5 year experience minimum in an Electronic Design role and the ability to operate on their own in order to build a successful, effective electronic design offer

  • Good understanding of electronic design engineering principles, preferably although not essentially with a HNC/HND or higher in an Electronics/Engineering discipline

  • Experience within an electrical/electronic biased industry*¹

  • Experience covering circuit schematics and fault finding

  • A good understanding of fundamental EMC compliance

  • Appreciation for "DFM" design for manufacture

  • PCB schematic capture and layout (Altium Designer, Solidworks PCB, Eagle PCB)

  • Analogue and digital electronics design

  • Knowledge of wireless communication and networks (RF, Zigbee, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi)

  • Knowledge of embedded software development and C Programming beneficial

  • Awareness of IoT and its impact on future products technology

  • Excellent administrative skills

  • Ability to use Microsoft office packages in particular programs such as Power point, Excel and Word

  • Excellent People skills and a good communicator

  • Positive and passionate approach to Electronics

  • Ability to motivate others

  • Excellent organisational and problem solving skills

  • A 'Can Do’ attitude

  • Team player

  • High level of interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work well under pressure, to agreed deadlines with meticulous attention to detail

  • The ability to engage people at all levels

    Hours of work: Monday to Friday 8.30am - 5.00pm (30 min lunch break)

    Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 depending upon experience

    *¹candidates will be considered from other industries with suitable experience in a previous Electronics role
