Electoral Services Assistant

My Client is a local Government authority and they are looking for an Electoral Services Assistant to start ASAP for a 9 week contract. Details of the role are as follows:


  • To maintain operational guidelines concerning core activities and to advise changes in work practices, as required. 
  • To provide administrative support in the production of the Register of Electors, and the conduct of elections, referendums and statutory ballots
  • To provide administrative support in the delivery of electoral services
  • To undertake occasional visits to electors and polling stations

Electoral Registration
  • To assist with the preparation, compilation, publication and distribution of the Register of Electors
  • To input, maintain and retrieve elector records using computer and manual systems (including special category and absent voters)
Electoral Administration
  • To maintain election staff records using computer and manual systems
  • To provide administrative support in the conduct of elections, referendums and other ballots

Electoral Awareness
  • To assist with electoral awareness campaigns

Support Services
  • To maintain Electoral Services filing systems and inventories
  • To provide typing support for the section
  • To deal with personal and telephone callers, using judgement to decide on appropriate action
  • To assist with the maintenance of systems for the efficient running of Electoral Services

  • To open, record and distribute incoming post for the section
  • To prepare outgoing post for dispatch
  • To maintain the manual filing system for absent voting applications, including periodic proofchecks
  • To provide support for the issue and opening of postal votes
  • To provide statistical reports of the section’s workflows

Council Policies
  • To manage the administration of information, application systems,   technology and staff so that the business unit complies with the Council’s Information Management related policies.

Hours: 9:00am to 5:15pm – 1 hour lunch
Pay Rate: £12.63 per hour
