NHS Forth Valley is responsible for monitoring the health and provision of health care for a population of 288,000 in a mixed urban-rural region of Central Scotland. Increasingly the NHS relies on the use of IT systems to improve the care given to patients. The introduction of these systems is challenging – business processes need to be evaluated and possibly redesigned; staff need to be fully involved from specification through to effective training; and the benefits from such systems need to be realised. The eHealth Programme Office is responsible for implementation management; user training/coaching; and facilitating benefits realisation. Examples of recent programmes and projects include the Electronic Patient Record Programme, Order Communications, and Hospital electronic prescribing system implementation (HePMA). An exciting opportunity has arisen for an eHealth Project Manager posts to manage further development of our IT infrastructure and systems. You will manage a number of projects relating to the use of eHealth/IT within NHS Forth Valley. You will also be asked to evaluate potential new projects including business case development. A key aspect of your role will be engaging with users (eg clinical staff), suppliers and other key stakeholders. You will also line manage a small number of project officers, as appropriate. Communication and influencing skills are key personal qualities required. You will already have project management experience and be able to demonstrate excellent business/process analysis skills. Educated to degree level or experienced in a related field of work and with relevant qualifications, you should have demonstrable experience in the use of IM&T. An NHS background with knowledge of clinical IM&T systems used in NHS would be desirable. You will be expected to work at locations across NHS Forth Valley.
