This role that sits within Brand Identity team, the Editorial Manager of the Editing Desk directly oversees the work of the Subeditor and potentially a Junior Proofreader & Team Assistant, the two other members of the Desk. You will assume overall responsibility for the Desk and the quality of its output. In addition to managing the Desk, the role includes copy editing, proofreading and some copywriting.

The Editing Desk reviews - as proofreaders and copyeditors - all digital and print B2C, B2B and B2I comms for the business. The Desk is also a gatekeeper of the correct use of the business' IP and the appropriate use of the brand partners' assets in all communications.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1.Line manager to the Subeditor and potentially a Junior Proofreader & Team Assistant.
2.Responsible for the quality of the work generated by the Editing Desk.
3.Responsible for ensuring the brand guidelines are kept up to date and relevant to the business' needs.
4.Alert Head of Communications Compliance to any seemingly unsolvable problems regarding communications that could undermine compliance and House Style.
5.Be a representative not only of the Editing Desk but the Brand Identity team to all teams within the business.

BACKGROUND & SKILLS:

The Essentials

*Previous experience in a corporate, fast paced business environment.
*Previous experience in an editorial role with copy-writing experience.
*Previous experience in directly managing a team of at least two.
*Proven decision-making capability.
*Excellent organisational skills with ability to prioritise appropriately.
*Ability to perform under pressure and meet deadlines.
*Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills,
*Excellent personal presentation skills
*Computer literate with solid understanding of Microsoft Office.
*Able to work individually or as part of a team.
*Eye for detail.
*Fluent in English.
*Good analytical skills.

Advantageous Skills

*Familiarity with/fluent in another European language.
*Familiarity with/fluency in Cyrillic languages.
*Familiarity with/fluency in Chinese character languages.
*Competent with Adobe creative software (specifically InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop).
