Our client is a strongly-backed, ambitious, entrepreneurial and highly innovative, niche online publisher building a portfolio of world leading healthcare titles, as well as delivering contract services to a suite of additional healthcare publications. It requires a new Editor for its flagship title, for everyone with a professional interest in health technology, to play a key role in the growth of audiences in a number of exciting health tech-based fields; including AI, VR, biotech, femtech, population health and wearables.

Your mission as Editor will be to bring to life, with quality storytelling, the many exciting strands of health tech, producing news and features and supporting the editorial direction. Reporting to the Editor-in-chief, duties you’ll enjoy include:

  • Interviewing professionals, patients and researchers
  • Translating complex info into compelling copy
  • Writing news and features and utilising the latest storytelling tools, including Shorthand
  • Using a CRM system and project management tools to collaborate with your colleagues, including on commercial campaigns
  • Liaising with sponsors and advertisers to produce commercial content
  • Writing 'deep-dive' longer features
  • Being personable and professional in the presence of interviewees and clients
  • Working to tight deadlines
  • Utilising social media to help grow audience and share content
  • Representing the company at events in the UK and overseas
  • Opportunities to contribute to other titles

As Editor you will need/be:

  • Strong media experience, ideally gained in a commercial Newsroom writing role, such as Editor, Reporter, Writer or Correspondent - similar PR experience also attractive
  • Story-hungry and versatile with a passion for journalism, healthcare and/or technology - previous work in business, technology or healthcare reporting advantageous
  • NCTJ qualification beneficial
  • Excellent capacity to assimilate large quantities of technical information - disciplined and organised
  • Audience focussed - highly adept in managing the prioritisation, variety and balance of stories
  • Available to work in North Tyneside offices on a regular basis (from 2-3 days a week to once a month, depending on travel) - ideally based in, or willing to move to, the Newcastle/North East of England area
  • Comfortable with international travel

Rewards and benefits:

  • Up to £35k per annum (salary of £25-30k, depending on experience + bonus up to £5k (based on achieving agreed performance targets))
