Your new school
Your new school is a multi-cultural 11-19 foundation school, serving 1650 students in the North of West Bromwich. It has recently undertaken renovations and has new buildings and state of the art equipment in all departments. Your new role
Your new role will include, however not be limited too Maintenance of equipment, tools and machinery and making the necessary arrangements for repair; Preparation of materials as specified by teaching staff; Inspection of workshops in accordance with the requirements of Health and Safety at Work Act and the production of risk assessments; Advising the caretaking staff of any repairs to the fabric and services of the D & T rooms; Responsible for safe and tidy storage and stock control of consumable materials, particular in storerooms; Construction of items requested by the subject leader or staff within the department which will aid workshop or classroom organisation; Use of IT to design and produce visual aid material; Assist teaching staff with any duties as and when requested in the workshop; Support the work in IT and control technology; Undergo additional training with regards to the use of any specialist equipment which will help with his/her job as D & T Technician.Any other duties as may be required from time to time as designated by the Head of Department that are commensurate with the post.
What you'll need to succeed
To succeed in this role you will need a good attendance record in previous positions, GCSE Grade C in English & Maths (or equivalent) or appropriate NVQs at level 2/3, Experience in engineering would be helpful, although training will be provided. All applicants are subject to checks in line with the Department of Education.
