Job Description
You will report directly to the Operations Manager and Company Director assisting with the daily operations.
The role itself is varied and for a Meat Industry professional will offer further insight into the industry whilst gaining experience in order processing and logistics.
Role Responsibility
Customer Service: with a customer base in excess of 70 butchers and caterers it will be your responsibility to manage the customers’ expectations by building an excellent working relationship.
Order Processing: customer orders are loaded onto the vehicles and delivery notes completed before final checks are carried out to ensure all orders are complete. Some customers require additional items which will need to be sourced before the vehicles leave the market. Customers must also be notified of any variations to their orders before they receive their delivery
Delivery: you will be required to deliver to a number of customers on various rounds. Before leaving each drop the candidate MUST check off the customer’s order and ensure all stock is accounted for before leaving their premises
Vehicles: a refrigerated vehicle will be supplied for the purpose of travelling to and from Smithfield Market and delivering to customers ONLY. Due to stringent food and hygiene requirements the vehicle must be always kept immaculate inside and out.
Uniform: you will be required to wear a white overall at all times when working at the market and delivering to customers. It will also be your responsibility to ensure the overall is cleaned daily. A hard hat is also required but is only worn for the purpose of the market. Both items of clothing will be supplied by the company. Steel toe capped footwear, trousers and fleeces will also be supplied after the first 4 weeks.
Hours: Monday to Friday 1.30am to finish. Times may vary anywhere from 9am to 11am if very busy 12midday.
The Ideal Candidate
Experience within the UK Meat Industry is desirable although job training will be provided to the right candidate
Clean drivers’ licence is essential
