We're growing Co-op Funeralcare and so far we've achieved a great deal. We've made our low cost funeral services accessible to more people than ever before, launched our new membership and are updating our processes and systems to become more digital. We pride ourselves on providing a caring and compassionate service. Joining us as a driver/bearer you'll be part of a dedicated team focussed on the care of the client, where you'll play a pivotal part in the delivery of the funeral.
As a driver/bearer at Co-op Funeralcare you'll be a big part of carrying out the funeral on the day. You'll drive our ceremonial vehicles taking care of every detail, make sure vehicles are maintained to the highest standards for each funeral and bear the coffin as part of a team. All whilst providing the highest levels of empathy and compassion for the family on the day, personal to their needs.
What you'll do:
Drive our ceremonial vehicles on the day of the funeral following planned routes and time scales
Provide a professional yet empathetic chauffer service to those travelling in your vehicle, taking into consideration their requirements throughout the journey
Maintain the vehicles including washing after and before each funeral so they are kept to the highest standards
Act as a bearer on funeral ceremonies and respectfully deal with requested items i.e. floral tributes
Check everything is as perfect as it can be before each ceremony for the deceased and their families
You don't need specific experience as a driver or bearer before, instead you'll need to showcase some vital strengths required to be successful with us. You'll be empathetic and able to deliver excellent client care at all times. You'll be able to follow detailed instructions meticulously in order to deliver the funeral to plan. And of course we'll need you to have a UK manual driving license and the ability to lift/ bear a coffin.
We'd love to talk to you if:
You're able to deliver personalised and empathetic client service, when clients are at their most vulnerable
You can take instructions, absorb them and follow them to the letter
You're able to adapt to changing situations calmly
You take big pride in your appearance
You understand that each and every funeral is unique
You've a clean UK manual driving license (if you're in NI- for a minimum of 2 years)
You're comfortable lifting and have no health reasons stopping you doing so
173 years ago a group of pioneers in Rochdale came up with an idea that changed the world. They believed that when people work together, they're stronger. And when you join the Co-op, you'll become part of an organisation where principles are just as important as profits. You'll also get a competitive salary, and a benefits package that includes 27 days holiday, an annual incentive scheme, discounts on all kinds of products and services, and an amazing pension. We want to change the world all over again. Join us, and help to rebuild an iconic British brand.
We're actively building diverse teams and we welcome applications from all people. But we know that simply having a diverse workforce is not enough. We want to create an inclusive environment, where everyone can contribute their best work and develop to their full potential. We celebrate our differences. And we recognise the importance of our teams reflecting the communities they serve.
We can make adjustments to our interview process according to your needs. And we offer a flexible working environment, enabling our colleagues to adjust their hours to accommodate personal circumstances. You can find out more about our maternity and paternity schemes, as well as a wide range of other Co-op people policies.
