Disrepair Surveyor

Our Property Services team are seeking new talent to join them for what will be a period of rapid growth and development for the organisation. We are seeking a Disrepair Surveyor, who will be responsible for providing an efficient, flexible and professional service to the business, focusing on our Disrepair claims.

About the job:

You will liaise with joint and singular experts to ensure works are agreed, scheduled, completed and accurately recorded. You'll also work with legal representatives to mitigate Hyde’s losses and exposure to risk.

General tasks include:

  • You will be visiting properties in disrepair, arranging schedules, managing contractors and signing off when completed at a satisfactory level.
  • You will be working with agreed budgets and costs controls, ensuring adherence with financial procedures at all times and produce reports and other information as required in line with statutory, regulatory and policy requirements.
  • Provide technical reports, appraisals, measurements, costings and estimates as required. You will need excellent diagnostic skills to identify and cure a wide range of building defects.
  • Regularly inspect the quality of contractors workmanship in a supervisory role and in accordance with the agreed standard specifications of work as directed.
  • Prepare reports and attend, when requested or required, meetings with the client(s), disrepair team co coordinators, contractors, solicitors, always acting as a responsible representative. You may also be required to make witness statements and attend court under the direction of our legal advisers.

About you:

  • Naturally it goes without saying that you will have excellent communication skills, and the ability to converse both written and verbally with people at all levels
  • Be solutions focused, and work with the wider team to ensure a prompt resolution
  • Strong organisational skills, great time management skills and are able to prioritise deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft packages
  • Previous experience within writing and producing reports
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • RICS or CIOB qualified is a must
  • Housing association/local authority backgrou7nd ideal but not essential
