The Director of Cloud Transformation (DoCT) leads Group and Regional IT through a multi-year transformation to a Cloud business that utilises IaaS, PaaS, SaaS within an effective overall architecture.
The DoCT will deliver a transformed IT operation enabling a more cost effective and agile business, able to respond quickly to new demand and changes within the competitive landscape.
The DoCT will be responsible for the successful transition to Cloud, run agreed common platforms and run the Cloud Centre of Excellence that advises and guides regional implementations.
The long term goal of the role is to exit from the data centre business and consolidate everything into Cloud operations.
What you will be doing
Work with Group and Regional and Business teams to analyse short, medium and long term benefits. Form strong and lasting relationships with senior execs to build a trustful engagement that emphasises the initiative’s benefits while making sure the plans focus on the business’ true priorities. Work with Group and Regional Architecture, Engineering and Delivery leadership and teams to define policy, standards, guidelines, target architecture, design patterns, technology choices, tools, operational approach and KPIs.
Get deep engagement with teams doing the work to gain true understanding of issues and progress. Build implementation plans and approach for short, medium and long term transition. Work with Procurement to identify and engage vendors. Work with HR to identify skill / training needs and organization. Work with Finance to cost plans and bring compelling business case to executive committees and boards. Manage and deliver to plans and budget over the long term.
Lead the creation of common platform and the overall transformation to a Cloud business with greater agility and strong cost benefit structure. Build the team that will own the core platform and become the Centre of Excellence helping projects and functions gains the benefits of the new platform.
What we are looking for
•Experience taking a multi country federated enterprise through a transition to Cloud, ideally with one or more of; AWS, Microsoft, Google, Alibaba and IBM.
•Extensive architecture experience in large multi-national enterprises covering solutions, infrastructure, enterprise and data aspects.
•Deep understanding of differences between physical, virtual and different types of cloud.
•Experience building IT at large scale by combining PaaS, IaaS, SaaS etc.
•Excellent appreciation of cloud compute, storage and networking. Understanding of software DC and network approaches.
•Wide experience of tools for data centre management, operational control and cost control.
•Detailed understanding of how to build reliable, multi-country fault tolerant cloud solutions.
•Extensive experience building hyper-scale, reliable, performance secure IT across multiple countries and 5000+ workloads.
•Experience and appreciation of where to use private, hybrid and public clouds.
•Experience and understanding how containerisation forms part of a cloud approach.
•Deep experience of Cloud based big data approaches. Deep understanding of Cloud storage approaches.
•Deep experience of Cloud based API technologies, gateways etc.
•Experience (on-prem and cloud) of building and running 24/7 highly reliable operations distributed across multiple countries.
•Strong networking knowledge. Experience working with comms providers as well as LAN and WAN designers.
•Extensive experience with monitoring and large scale IT management solutions that allow deep insight into operations across on-prem and cloud.
•Experience of networking technologies and needs for on-prem, in-transition and fully Cloud environments.
•High appreciation of the security and privacy aspects of multi country physical and cloud IT.
•Experience in senior technology leadership roles.
•Proven ability to analyse and resolve complex technical problems.
•Experience in senior technology leadership roles.
•Comfortable working with senior execs in C-Suite, communicating well and inspiring confidence.
•Proven ability to work collaboratively with IT and business functions to design and deploy appropriate technology solutions
•Ability to understand the complex business and political drivers of a Group and Regional business and influence the business and IT communities.
•Combination of technology, business acumen and delivery experience from technology strategy to in-life operation at scale
•Clear strategic thinker with the ability to think laterally and then translate this into proposals which are clearly communicated and easily understandable by business leaders and the technical community.
•Demonstrated experience of leading actual, virtual, matrix and global teams of technical architects and gaining strong credibility within the technical community
•A genuine interest in the effective use of technology to help manage and grow the TUI business and a desire to propose solutions which are bold and innovative
•Extensive experience running large scale international technical change activities.
•Excellent vendor relationship management experience.
•Experience with migration frameworks and planning models that build models of existing estate and create the foundation of planning how to move it.
•Experience, in-depth with on-prem and cloud TCO models.
•Deep understanding of true cost of infrastructure.
•Strong understanding and ability to construct and communicate financial models for
