Digital Senior Account Manager

The Senior Account Manager is a key role which aims to drive the development of the business by leading the delivery of an efficient, innovative, effective, and profitable service on client accounts and projects.

You will be responsible for the successful implementation, launch and ongoing management of digital client projects. Developing and growing strong strategic client relationships and communicating the client's return on investment.

As a Senior Account Manage you will be assigned to a group of accounts and will be measured based on retention and renewal of those accounts. The SAM will also be required to collaborate closely and coordinate effectively with internal stakeholders to drive renewals and identify growth opportunities.

Key areas of responsibility

  • Develop and agree budgets with internal stakeholders and agree with client
  • Liaise with client to obtain project brief
  • Ensure strategic focus of all materials and programs
  • Attend client meetings/conference calls
  • Lead project pre-launch activities and establish specific goals
  • Define and develop briefing documents/launch plans based on client objectives
  • Maintain an overview of project tactics such as ongoing marketing activity
  • Keep abreast of external issues/events/developments in the industry, and regularly review their impact on the project and client objectives
  • Provide regular status reports to client about their project pre-and post-launch
  • Partner with new business team presale on individual accounts to define budget, set expectations, define client success goals, technical requirements, and briefing plans
  • Partner with new business team throughout the client lifecycle to achieve renewal targets and identify growth opportunities
  • Drive internal brainstorming for account expansion and account development planning where applicable collaborate with new business team
  • Prepare pitches and proposals for additional business opportunities with existing clients
  • Support proposal development for new business team
  • Up-selling: identify additional activities with existing clients
  • Cross-selling: network with the client to acquire new projects/accounts outside current specification

Key Attributes/Competencies

  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to be the hands-on leader of multiple accounts/projects
  • Strong project management and organisational skills, combined with thorough understanding of the commercial drivers of the business
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, ability to work in a high-pressure environment with multiple internal and external stakeholders
  • At least 3 years’ experience working in a marketing services, digital, technology, medical communications or other relevant agency environment
  • Ability to build long-lasting and trusted relationships with customers
  • Experience in monitoring competition to identify new opportunities
  • Evidence of delivery of revenue targets, growing existing business and ensuring annual renewal of contracts
  • Confident communicator who can collaborate effectively with their peers
  • Strong influencing and negotiating skills, determined and committed to success
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Organised, disciplined, confident and decisive
  • Openness to travel within Europe and USA
  • Understanding of web analytics to assist with effective delivery of client reports

Professional experience

  • International experience, for example, collaborations with non-UK partners (commercial or academic)
  • Knowledge of medical communications, digital publishing / media, and pharmaceutical medical / marketing services
  • Knowledge of related areas within medical, regulatory and digital marketing
  • Track record in managing client relationship and achieving organic growth
  • Extensive experience with management of corporate clients
