£30,368 - £32,750 DOE Plus Benefits
This great role will help the RNLI get the most from our new digital toolkit.
What you'll be doing
You'll join our Digital Production team to create amazing digital experiences across the RNLI website, our sister sites and related systems. Driving the production process from start to finish on section refreshes and redesigns, you’ll utilise your skills across user research, wireframing, content population, developer liaison and performance reviews. A hands-on approach and wide-ranging interest in digital is key, as is commercial orientation.
Building strong relationships across project teams, you’ll work closely with our Creative Services department and the wider Digital team in particular, acting as a colleague, collaborator and catalyst for innovative work throughout. With one eye on the future, you’ll look for opportunities to grow your skills and share learnings with the team. But today is all about delightful user experiences, always supported by voice-of-the-user feedback and a sound knowledge of CMS principles. Over time, you’ll also become involved with our growing personalisation and marketing automation capabilities - so a broader understanding of digital strategy and marketing will be important.
What experience you'll need
- The ability to manage concurrent projects: our digital team is much in demand
- Some experience of wireframing, prototyping, heat mapping and session recording tools and processes
- Hands-on knowledge of CMS platforms, such as Sitecore
- A good understanding of user experience and the wider digital communications ecosystem
- Day to day knowledge of web analytics
- Strong communication skills - written and verbal - and the ability to influence stakeholders, bringing them on a journey with you.
This job would be suitable for someone who is…
- A team player
- Able to think both tactically about day to day problems plus support our longer term strategy
- Proactive and focussed on delivering strong, measurable results
About the RNLI
The Royal National Lifeboat Institution is a charity that provides a 24-hour lifeboat search and rescue service, seasonal lifeguards, water safety education and initiatives, and flood rescue response. Our lifeboat crews and lifeguards need a dedicated, professional and talented team behind them. This is your chance to join that team and help save lives every day.
Working together with partners and communities, we aim to educate, influence, supervise and rescue those at risk from drowning. By 2024, we’re aiming for a 50% reduction in drowning in the UK and Ireland, and effective drowning prevention strategies around the world. We see digital technologies as a crucial part in helping us achieve this goal.
As well as a competitive salary, you’ll also be eligible for a fantastic pensions package. That’s not to mention the opportunity to work in a flexible and collaborative workplace, and access to internal and external training opportunities that are difficult to beat.
We’re working on encouraging applications from all sorts of people, and whilst we hope that we’ve given you enough information here we understand if you may have further questions or hesitations. If there’s anything else that you’d like to know, or if there is anything in this advert that has put you off or made you pause, please do let us know as we’d like to improve for the future.
Our staff and volunteers have been saving lives at sea without prejudice for nearly 200 years. We respect and value diversity of background, skills and perspectives within our teams, and consider it essential to help us deliver a world-class lifesaving service. We are an inclusive organisation and welcome applications from everyone. In addition to having the skills needed for the role, we also look for applicants who share our commitment to living our RNLI values (trustworthy, courageous, selfless, and dependable), and helping us work towards our goals of halving drowning in the UK and Ireland by 2024. This involves a growing commitment to preventative action, using our expertise to work in partnership with communities locally, nationally and internationally to prevent drowning.
The closing date for applications is the 18th March 2018, with interviews scheduled to be held on the 26th March 2018.
