Overall Role Purpose

Design innovative digital solutions to support the delivery of PGDS and business unit projects and align to the digital strategy and roadmap.

Key Responsibilities

  • Help the business successfully adopt the next generation of digital platforms and services to drive business advantage.

  • Support the design of new digital solutions across one or more business units and projects including working closely with others in the Digital Transformation team and the Business Units.  

  • Define end-to-end digital solution designs including shaping Minimum Viable Products and defining the backlog to deliver early value and also plan future enhancements and where required with input from other team members as well as business unit stakeholders, the broader IT architecture team and key suppliers.

  • Seek input from, and support, colleagues including PGDS Digital and Security Architects, Business Unit Application Architects and Group Digital Office to develop innovative, secure and resilient end-to-end digital solutions.

  • Work closely with key stakeholders to estimate the implementation and ongoing operational costs to support budgeting and planning process across PGDS Digital Transformation and the business units.

  • Design new PGDS Digital platform services (e.g. API Management) that can help to accelerate the delivery, and drive consistency across PGDS and business unit digital projects including supporting business case and pricing model(s).

  • Enable business units to identify and design the right mix of IaaS, PaaS and SaaS services offered by Microsoft, AWS or others as well as PaaS services developed by PGDS required to deliver new cloud based solutions.

  • Work closely with others in the PGDS Digital Transformation team as well as key suppliers to establish a secure, scalable and efficient delivery model.

Job Requirements - Knowledge and Skills

  • Demonstrable success operating as a senior digital and cloud solution architect for a large enterprise, major consultancy or cloud native integrators.

  • Good level of digital literacy, and capable of effectively engaging with a wide range of digital specialists, suppliers and business stakeholders to define the best approach to digital architecture and design to achieve successful business outcomes.

  • Can clearly demonstrate through real examples innovative digital and cloud based solutions delivered and can articulated the challenges faced as well as the business value delivered.

  • Experience of large enterprise environments including integration of new digital services with traditional systems of record.

  • Good understanding and experience of using of agile delivery methods, cloud platforms and digital services, including certification in Agile  (e.g. Scaled Agile Framework).

  • Demonstrable experience of leading the design and implementation of public cloud solutions on Azure and AWS.  (Optional) one or more professional certifications from one or more of these leading pubic cloud providers.

  • Knowledge and experience of modern architectures (containers/ micro-services) and the tool-chains required to effectively deploy and manage cloud services at scale.

  • Awareness of financial services and data protection regulations and well as security good practices.

  • Comfortable engaging with senior business and technology stakeholders.  Strong presentation and report writing skills
