The Digital Editorial Team

Publishing is the biggest department at this fast growing tech company and is responsible for all of the company’s websites.

We are looking for a Digital Editor to lead the content strategy for our online website e-commerce brand. The team is focused on creating high quality, searchable and useful content for the DIY Website Builder market. The team also conducts world-class research and regularly features in the UK’s top publications and newspapers.

The Role of Digital Editor

The Digital Editor will have complete ownership of one of my client's Publishing websites -

Managing an editorial team of Writers and Researchers, the Editor will set the publishing strategy for the website and ensure these are delivered with a view to increase organic search traffic and revenue. The Editor is also responsible for the quality of all of the content on their websites, and ensuring the bar for content quality continues to be set higher and that these standards are maintained.

Responsibilities of Digital Editor:

  • Own and drive the content strategy for
  • Own the GP performance of the sites and ensure targets are hit
  • Have ownership of the websites and final say over all stakeholders working on the website from around the business (Technical SEO, PR, Brand, CRO, Tech)
  • Edit and commission world-class content that offers unique value to a user and is trusted by search engines
  • Set the highest editorial standard for the websites
  • Create and regularly update editorial guidelines
  • Manage & support a team to produce World Class content that drives high volumes of traffic
  • Ensure basic best practice SEO is implemented across the site by the editorial team (title tags, meta descriptions, etc.)
  • Monitor the performance of the website daily, and communicate all traffic and revenue changes to the Head of Sites and wider Publishing team
  • Work with the CRO team to identify conversion rate improvements
  • Work with the Technical SEO team to deliver high-value projects that will improve the website
  • Work with the Brand and Design teams to create new innovative page designs that improve user experience and have a positive impact on the website’s engagement metrics

Experience of the Digital Editor:

  • Proven editorial experience, with significant time in a leadership role
  • Proven track record of developing innovative original content
  • Highly commercial astute
  • Proven experience managing a website and growing organic traffic and revenue
  • Demonstrated history of directing impactful journalism and original content across multiple platforms, including video
  • Deep understanding of many types of content - product reviews, how to guides, breaking news, features, investigative, trends etc
  • A deep knowledge of how organic search and social media work
  • Proven history of working collaboratively - and successfully - across departments, including Product & Tech, Data, Sales, Marketing, Outreach & PR
  • Acting as a brand evangelist who understands the mission and core values of MVF and is able to represent it’s sites across TV, digital, radio, and other public forums
  • Passion for management and mentorship of editorial talent
  • Ability to interpret data, audience insights and analytics to inform coverage decisions and meet goals
  • Highly driven and motivated
  • An exceptional eye for detail
