Job Position: 34760 - Diagnostic Calibrations and Specifications Engineer

Duration: 12 months rolling, 40 hours per week

Job Description: The successful candidate will be responsible for:
The calibration of approx. 1000 calibration labels related to service tools as well as maintaining the Diagnostic Core Calibration.

The management of Part 1 and 2 Diagnostic calibrations and specifications.

The actual test and validation is performed offshore by a 3rd party service provider and the results and specifications are provided back to the client.

Managing your work load and managing the flow of information between Powertrain and the offshore team.

Resolution of any issues found during off-shore testing.

All liaison with the diagnostic team.

Specification of Diesel EMS service diagnostic functionality relating to new features / function.

Issue investigation during prototype build and plant support to resolve build and manufacturing issues.

Skills Required: Good understanding of automotive diagnostics, OBD and related standards (ISO15031, J1979, ISO14229)

Experience with diagnostics tools and communication protocols Must be comfortable with handling large amounts of calibration and test result data in Excel Must be comfortable with working in binary and hexadecimal numbers, and with text in ASCII format.

Good understanding of communication network architectures (CAN, LIN & Flexray) and sensors / actuators SW specification and testing in automotive environments ¿ ideally EMS related.

Experience with EMS software specifications / mechanisations. Matlab / Simulink data measurement and analysis.

PCS (Product Creation System)

Working knowledge of AIMS, the GMRDB database and QBay

Prior experience with the calibration and diagnostics tools: INCA and CANalyser

Prior experience
with the calibration
database: Creta Previous Part 2 or OBD certification experience

Ability to write scripts in Excel and/or MATLAB to process textual data.

Good communication, interpersonal skills and self-confidence are personal qualities needed to succeed, being self-motivated and able to deliver with minimum supervision

Experience
Required: Previous experience of Engine and Powertrain control systems (or similar).

Electronic control system knowledge and experience as a minimum: would suit electronics, mechatronics or software engineer as well as mechanical systems engineer.

Demonstrate the ability to deliver automated tests and lead the development of system validation test suites.

Good communication, interpersonal skills and self-confidence are personal qualities needed to succeed, being self-motivated and able to deliver with minimum supervision.

Rate: Between £25 and £30 per hour on a limited / Umbrella company basis based over 40 hours per week. Some flexibility can be shown on this for outstanding candidates.
