Background

Based in Sheffield / Loughborough, with some home working possible, as a Development Services consultant, you will join our team of highly skilled technical consultants and report to the Consultant Manager. The focus of the role is to provide a quality, custom development capability as part of a broader implementation team.

The role will be a mixture of office and client site based work and requires a drive to ensure each customer receives excellent service. The ability to communicate professionally and with authority, both internally and externally and to instil confidence amongst all stakeholders in a project, and an attention to detail are critical.

Under the close mentorship and training from senior members of our team, you will embark on a journey that will equip you with all of the knowledge, skills and tools required. You will be involved with meeting clients, understanding their requirements, developing, testing and deploying client specific solutions.

The Job - Overview

In the role you provide a flexible and detailed development resource supporting various products and services within the Supply Chain division of the Access Group. This will include both working autonomously on small, quick-start projects and working as part of a broader project team on larger projects.

The successful candidate will have a flexible, problem solving and technical mindset with an eye for detail to ensure their work is of the best quality possible. Excellent interpersonal skills and phone manner are also essential. Success in the role will be reported based upon client NPS, utilisation and delivery of billable services where applicable.

Projects are fast paced and each day will bring different challenges that for the correct person can bring huge personal development potential. As the role will be client facing, it will involve travel to client sites as required. Diaries are managed by our internal project management and resourcing teams, and travel can be required at short notice. The applicant must initially have access to their own vehicle that they can use for business travel.

Projects typically involve:
• Integrating Access software with third party solutions
• Extending and modifying our software to create bespoke solutions for our clients
• Using our in house Workflow Forms Designer to develop bespoke web based solutions
• Source code changes to tailor and extend our existing software to a client's specific requirements.
• Development of bespoke applications

Skills and Experience

The successful candidate must be a self-starter, possess strong interpersonal & communication skills and have a tenacious problem solving mentality. A full clean UK driving license is a pre-requisite. A willingness and ability to learn; you must have a flexible and hardworking attitude with a determination to deliver projects on time; whilst maintaining a focus on a client's requirements and quality.

Skill requirements
The ideal candidate will have the following experience:
• Work experience in a field that emphasises technical, creative and analytical skills
• Experience in developing with Microsoft SQL Server, C#.Net, VB.Net, ASP.Net and Web Services
• Experience in the manipulation of data in various formats.
• Experience developing with a relational database.
• A proven track record and experience in a development role, ideally within the software / technology sector.
• Demonstrate a clear capability to work on development with a variety of programming languages, databases, data manipulation tools and data conversion principles
• Knowledge of databases & software including Microsoft development tools, Microsoft SQL Server, Access, Excel,
• Excellent client facing skills, working with clients at all levels.
• You will have real-world experience of data migration/import and transformation techniques, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
• A passion for delivering high quality work and ownership of issues and customer requirements.
• A drive to continually improve processes and systems.
• The ability to plan, prioritise and work on several projects at once.
• The ability to quickly learn new concepts, applications and technologies.
• The ability to work autonomously and as part of a team with effective communication skills, actual and virtual.
