To carry out development and maintenance work on the client’s systems in line with change and projects led by the Delivery Team. The Systems Developer will ensure that all development is delivered on time meeting cost and quality requirements whilst guiding over developers in the team.
The main duties of this role are to;
o Ensure that allocated tasks are delivered to agreed timescales and costs by liaising with the Development Manager, Developers, Project Managers and Testers.
o Perform efficient software development and defect management in line with the prescribed development method and ensure this is done within SLA.
o Creating and maintaining technical documentation.
o Determine system software design requirements and ensures solutions are successfully implemented to increase efficiency
o Keep abreast of new technology and techniques relating to software development.
o Ensures that applications are compatible across multiple computing platforms and browsers.
o Generate system test documentation and closure reports.
o Help guide the business to innovate new solutions and re-engineer existing processes.
o Provide client support, ensuring that all incidents are resolved within the relevant SLA and communicate these out to relevant stakeholders.
o Provide guidance and advice to system users in supporting recent implementations and resolving problems that arise.
o Liaise with internal teams within Delivery and Development to ensure technical solutions, development, testing and implementation are consistent with best practice.
Experience, skills and competencies
o Experience of creating reports and frameworks using Cognos 1 0, specifically using the following software: o Report Studio o Framework Manager
o Solid understanding of database concepts and ability to create data models Must have strong software development skills and experience in the following technology:
- SQL (queries, T-SQL, scheduler)
o Knowledge of a programming language (VB.Net, C#, etc) would be beneficial
o Understanding of defect management and the use of bug tracking tools
o An excellent attention to detail
o Good inter-personal skills
o The ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
o Strong analytical, conceptual and problem-solving abilities
o Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
o Experience in working within IT, specifically Systems Development
o Forward thinking and able to recommend solutions
o Good knowledge of the stages within the software development life cycle
QualificationsEducated to degree level in a related subject or at least 3 years' experience working with Cognos 10
