Care & Custody specialises in custodial management services and is responsible for managing Europe's largest Immigration Removal Centre (IRC), just outside Heathrow,UB7 0HB

We care for over 1200 immigration detainees providing custody services, welfare, regime and recreational activity.

As a Detainee Custody Officer (DCO) you will be responsible for maintaining high standards of security and safety whilst promoting the welfare & decency of detainees staying at our immigration removal centre.

Job Description

£25,006 per annum (Subject to confirmation).

44 hours a week, shifts covering days and nights

No specific role experience or qualifications are required to be a DCO as full training and supported development are given. Experience of dealing sensitively with a wide variety of people who have been agitated, confused or angry would be an advantage.

Full flexibility will be needed to work a mixture of short and long day shifts, with a set of 7 night shifts every 6 weeks, followed by 7 days off. The centre is operational 24/7/365 and your rolling roster covering 51 weeks will help you plan your work/life balance.

You’ll begin your?Care & Custody?career completing an 8-week initial training course (ITC), continuing your development over the next 12 months with on the job mentoring and assessments to gain our accredited Level 3 apprenticeship in Detention and Custody.

We will support you every step of the way, developing your skills to professionally deliver this rewarding, sometimes challenging role with integrity and respect.

The Next 8-week initial training course commences November 25th 2019

Qualifications

Applicants must:

  • Be a UK citizen, Citizen of the Commonwealth with their own indefinite leave to remain (not through marriage) or EEA citizen.

  • Have a valid and in date passport, with no restrictions on their stay in the UK. Please note Visa’s in out of date passports cannot be accepted as proof of Right to Work in the UK. A Biometric card alongside a current in- date passport must be provided.

  • Have continuously resided in the UK for the previous 5 years. Applicants must not have spent more than 3 months at any one time overseas during the previous 5 years.

  • Not be currently un-discharged from Bankruptcy

This position is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and Applicants must be prepared to undergo an Enhanced DBS check, employer referencing for the previous 5 years and vetting to the level of Counter Terrorist Checked (CTC) if offered a role..
