Hours: 24 hours per week (over 3 days) Term time only (38 weeks)

Salary: £29,780 Teachers MSP 4

The Aurora Group is an innovative provider of education and care for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities.

Due to our continued expansion; we are currently looking for a Design Technology and BTEC Construction Teacher in Norfolk where our Aurora Eccles School supports young people from year 2 up to year 13, with complex anxiety or mental health needs typically related to Asperger’s Syndrome, Autism and other conditions.

The Role:

The key to this role will be your ability to deliver high quality teaching and learning of Design Technology and BTEC Construction at GCSE to students and take responsibility for their progress, welfare and outcomes.

You will deliver a dynamic programme of Design Technology and BTEC Construction subjects, monitoring quality and standards within subjects, advising the Head of Education on appropriate resources and materials as required.

The role will give you the opportunity to contribute to college planning and self-evaluation as well as the supervision of work by support staff who are assigned to the students. The role will also utilise your up to date knowledge and understanding of the professional duties of teaching.

Naturally, you will take responsibility for implementing school policies and practices, including those relating to safeguarding and equality of opportunity.

Successful candidates are likely to demonstrate:

PGCE / CertEd or equivalent teaching qualification and evidence of in-service training (essential).

  • Experience of working in a post-16 college environment (desirable)
  • Experience of successfully delivering a differentiated curriculum to students with a wide range of needs
  • Knowledge and experience of supporting age range and of students with ASD and associated complex needs
  • Understanding of the Safeguarding principles
  • Experience of a range of approaches to managing and de-escalating challenging behaviours
  • The ability to remain calm and reflective when working in a challenging environment.
  • The ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
