Description:
We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Design engineer to join an expanding business. Taking ownership in creating and developing a new in-house Research and Development centre, turning concepts into reality. Having recently acquired a production business, now is the time to bring in the right person to assist in shaping and pushing the business forward.
Responsibilities:
- Shaping/Leading and Development of the new R&D department
- Research new developments and innovations
- Turning ideas/concepts into technical plans
- Designs need to consider the most cost-effective production processes and safety
- Write and present reports
- Ensure that all work is documented, and drawings filed correctly
- Review and modify existing products in order to increase efficiency or improve performance and add value
- Research new materials and methods of development
- Oversee the build of prototypes and Perform physical testing on them
- Ensure components and assemblies adhere to applicable industry and business standards following current legislations including Vehicle Type Approval within UK and abroad
- Budget management and cost tracking so the R&D tax credits can be claimed efficiently
- Responsible to the board of directors
In order to be considered for this role you must have the following:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering or related field
- 3+ years’ experience in mechanical design
- Experienced CAD Programmer
- Impeccable attention to detail
- Management experience
- Having a creative yet professional manner, keeping positive even under pressure
- Having electronic knowledge
- Having industry experience within the automotive industry or capital equipment
- Extensive knowledge of metal fabrication processes
- Full Driver’s License (Essential)
