Severn Trent Water are looking for our newest Design Engineer to join our team in within our Asset Creation department. This is a fantastic opportunity within this area and an exciting time to join Severn Trent Water where you will work on projects which could transform the way in which we manage our waste water and clean water assets. You will have the responsibility of analysing the way in which our assets are working and play a key role in understanding the root cause and essentially creating new ways in which our assets can be improved and optimised. You will be given projects to work on some of which will be reactive and use your expertise in Design to deliver innovative solutions. You will work closely Senior Design Engineers & Technicians and play a key role in the successful delivery of projects. The role will be very varied and will offer you the autonomy to be creative and use the latest technology in the field. Having good experience within the field would be a real asset and allow you to hit the ground running alternatively and ideally you will be qualified to degree level and working towards membership of an appropriate professional engineering body. You will have a proven record of playing a key role in the successful delivery of waste water and clean water infrastructure projects or projects in similar industries. You will be a very personable individual who is able to motivate and inspire others around them and play a supportive role. There will be sometimes challenging situations in the role, we are looking for someone who is confident, resilient and provides innovative solutions to problems. You will play an influential role in helping us achieve our company goal of becoming "The UK's most trusted Water company by 2020" not only this you will play a leading role in making a positive difference to the communities that we serve.
As a Design Engineer, your key skills and competencies will include:
* Water sector experience (desirable) * Treatment Process understanding (desirable - would need to build as part of on boarding otherwise) * Proven experience of design to assist with the development of innovative solutions * Experience of working to standards, codes and practices * Experience of working to standards, codes and practices * Experience of implementing CDM regulations in the design process * Experience of working closely with supply chain in delivering projects (with emphasis on adherence to design specification, H&S, outputs, and quality). * Demonstrated experience of the considerations given to risk management in construction and ops design. * Experience of influencing a disparate set of stakeholders to deliver design objectives

This role will be based at various sites in the South STW Region. You will have the opportunity to visit other sites in the surrounding area so holding a Full UK Driving Licence would be preferable.
