With responsibility for the design of a project falling ever more at the feet of the main contractor it was decided 8 years ago to establish a standalone design team to support the both the pre-construction bid team as well as the site delivery teams. This coincided with a significant invest in Building Information Modelling software (BIM) and it is a decision that has made a significant contribution to the success and expansion of the company over recent years. As a result they are now looking to recruit another Design Coordinator/ Architectural Technician to support the growth plans of this department and the company as whole.
Support the design team in analysing tenders to then produce the most effective design for the project.
Learning how to use the BIM software.
- Supporting the design team in their role of assisting the delivery team with design issues once on site.
Desired Knowledge and Experience
As a Design Coordinator the key to succedding here is your attitude, desire and a willingness to learn. There are though a few things would be an advantage:
- Good IT skills. Knowledge of AutoCAD or other drawing packages would also be useful.
- A construction related degree with a genuine interest in the design of buildings, particularly from a technical point of view, would be an advantage.
- Good organisational and planning skills with the ability to hit deadlines.
- Any project based experience and the icing on the cake would be if you have any pre-construction experience.
