Purpose of Role
The Midland Mainline Programme (MMP) valued circa £1b is an extensive programme of upgrades, renewals and electrification of the railway line between London St Pancras and Sheffield (via Luton, Bedford, Corby, Leicester, East Midlands Parkway, Derby, Nottingham and Chesterfield) delivered by Carillion Powerlines Group Joint Venture for Network Rail client.
Works are carried out to make the line completely electrified using a 25kV Overhead Line Equipment (OLE) design. Bridges and tunnels on the route will be altered or rebuilt as well as work to remodel stations and carry out line speed improvements. The work to electrify the MML is a vital aspect of Network Rail's strategy to provide a safe, reliable and efficient railway.
In the delivery of the MMP we are seeking a number of Design Assurance Engineers to join the MMLE Engineering Team, the role will see you preparing technical reports, feasibility reports and cost estimates for design fees and physical works. At all stages you will be responsible for assessing the buildability of Designs and interfacing with Design Partners to drive ‘right first time’ behaviours from Design stage through to Construction.
The role will also see you:
-completing allocated works in accordance with programme timescales
-allocating roles, responsibilities and production activities within the Project Design Team
-monitoring progress of works, advising the Design Manager at agreed periodicities, and agreeing alterations to programmes of work or working patterns as required
The successful candidate will be Degree or Diploma qualified in a relevant skill set and be a Chartered Engineer, or working towards Chartership. We are looking for someone with proven experience in OHL Design and Quality Assurance.Principal Accountabilities
As well as demonstrating competence in subordinates key objectives: - Liaise with employers representatives to raise and answer queries - Monitor additional work, day work and/or delays to ensure that costs are recouped - Monitor progress against master programme, identify anomalies and implement rectification - Monitor quality, safety and environmental systems to ensure compliance to Carillion’s management systems - Monitor temporary works to ensure they are fit for use - Short term programming to monitor against master programmeAdditional Role Information
