Job Summary: Provide cover and support for the Registered Manager of the home

Provide comprehensive care for the young people within the home in line with agreed care plans and company policies and procedures

Must Have: NVQ Level 3/QCF Level 3 HSC CCYP

At least 2 years supervisory experience within a residential setting of young people

Responsibilities / Accountabilities

Provide support for the Registered Manager to ensure the efficient running of the home

  • Be the nominated person in charge of the home in the Registered Manager's absence
  • Be aware of and take action on all appropriate areas. This will include in the Manager's absence:

o Compliance

o Financial Matters

o Staff Management

o Administration

o Health & Safety

  • Take responsibility for any particular areas for running the home as directed by the Manager

Operation of home in compliance with all requirements, internal or external

  • Liaison with all relevant legislative bodies when necessary

Staff Management

Responsibilities / Accountabilities

Managing staff to ensure the efficient running of the home and to develop them to their full potential

  • Lead the team of staff responsible to post holder particularly when leading a shift
  • Communicate tasks, responsibilities and expected levels of performance
  • Conduct supervision as directed
  • Identify training and development needs
  • Ensure all new staff are properly inducted
  • Maintain positive working environment
  • Assist in staff recruitment and retention
  • Promoting concept and ethos of liP

Administration

Responsibilities /Accountabilities

Ensuring that all data and other information is monitored and communicated in an effective and timely fashion

  • Assist Registered Manager in the production and monitoring of reports and documents as directed
  • Monitor all incident reports
  • Monitor all significant incidents
  • Monitor staff monthly hours sheets
  • Complete home log
  • Produce effective reports as directed
  • Ensure all messages are passed on effectively

Health & Safety

Responsibilities / Accountabilities

Creating a safe and healthy environment for children, staff and visitors

  • Ensuring home care staff have adequate resources to fulfil their Health and Safety needs
  • Advising home care staff on Health and Safety issues
  • Monitoring of incidents, near misses and general safety record within area of responsibility
  • Developing plans for improvement within area of responsibility communication of staff
  • Report incidents, near misses etc as required by company procedures
  • Write risk assessments as directed
  • Suggest plans for improvement
