The role is fully responsible and accountable for the people, service, cost and quality performance of the regional depots. You will be expected to have a good level of intelligence, be trustworthy and a people person with a strong management technique.
Based in Luton the Regional Depot Manager plays an influential role to liaise and network with other parts of the business such as Finance, Transport, HR and the Commercial teams. You will have full P&L/KPI regional operational responsibility for the 4 x depots and the associated distribution teams. This role comes with the responsibility of ownership for your depots and therefore you must have demonstrative experience in leadership skills, commercial acumen and be able to provide excellent customer service to the clients.

Duties include

  • Ensuring the consistent application and execution of standard operating procedures across the depots to provide industry leading service and efficiency

  • Ensuring that all legal, health and safety, security, transport and Company policy requirements are strictly adhered to

  • Sourcing reliable agencies, negotiating rates/contracts and ensuring supply of drivers when necessary, managing temporary labour costs

  • Prepare and submit performance reports and KPI’s to Head Office

  • Taking responsibility for the management of fleet planning, maintenance and upkeep of Company vehicles and legal compliance with regards all Company vehicle/driver regulations

  • Champion all professional practices and behaviours and ensure all staff are trained effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Mentor and develop the depot's staff.

  • To ensure the depot offers both internal and external customers and clients the highest levels of customer service throughout the distribution process.

  • Improve the key performance indicators to ensure depot targets are achieved.

  • Ensure all employees are supported with strong and effective line management.

  • Create a people culture of a 'can do' attitude.

  • Conduct annual reviews with all staff.

  • Ensure compliance with all Health & Safety & HR policies.

  • Ensure the depot remains effectively resourced at all times.

  • Maintain the site standards and manage the cleanliness, site parking and signage. Oversee the security of the site.

About You

With a good level of people management experience, involving direct accountability and responsibility for motivating and leading a team, you should:

  • Be a good communicator, both written and verbal, decisive, problem solving and time management skills

  • Demonstrable background of success in meeting and exceeding targets.

  • An individual with a professional customer oriented focus

  • Demonstrate high levels of resilience, self-motivation, flexibility and the ability to work on your own initiative

  • Have a good degree of computer literacy, as well as the ability to monitor performance and analyse data, along with the initiative to act accordingly
