Department Manager - Women's Body Studio

Job Scope

This is a key role delivering extraordinary customer experiences and constantly maintaining excellent standards through managing and developing the team and role modelling Selfridges’ values. With a hands-on approach, flexible management styleand treating their department as if it was their own business, the Department Manager will be accountable for owning and delivering department objectives including sales, stock-loss and payroll, Spotlight scores and ensuring our company values and principles remain the foundation of team behaviour and interaction with customers. The Department Manager is also responsible for supporting the wider area in delivering objectives by providing support and cover as required.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Service and Sales

  • Delivering an extraordinary customer experience meeting sales & profit targets
  • Creating an extraordinary selling experience for customers
  • Consistently meeting customer needs and expectations & initiating improvements whenever possible

People

  • Managing & leading our people through Performance Management & other available tools and processes.
  • Delivering an extraordinary customer experience meeting sales & profit targets

Environment

  • Ensuring the full trading window is efficiently managed
  • Managing rotas to ensure departments are staffed to required levels

  • Ensuring Sales floors are legal & compliant

Product

  • Ensuring a thorough brand & product knowledge
  • Demonstrating an authentic & passionate understanding of brand, product & the competition
  • Ensuring consistently well managed stocks & displays

Key Skills and Experience

  • Experience in a retail environment as a manager
  • Ability to manage and lead teams
  • Previous experience in a fast pace, dynamic, high sales/volume business
  • Good understanding and evidence of excellent retail standards
  • Great commercial focus
  • Hands-on management style
  • Great empathy with people
  • Real desire to give exceptional customer service

Additional Requirements

A fully flexible approach to weekend working is required. Typically this will include 2 full weekends out of 4 or 4 weekend days per month. These will be scheduled around the needs of the business and any personal requests. During Peak Trade it will be necessary to work extra weekends to support the business. These times include Sale periods, promotions etc. Any holidays taken will be counted towards your weekends off during that period.
