Database & Desktop Systems Engineer (6 month FTC)

The company:
a leading Automotive organisation based in Worcester looking for an experienced Desktop Systems Engineer for an initial 6 month fixed term contract.

Location: Worcester

Shift: 37.5 hours per week

upto £25,000 per annum (pro rata)

Main duties:
Work with requesting departments and undertake business analysis from the data available. Duties include:

• Support existing applications (in-house & package solutions)
• Map out existing MS Access databases and determine the best route to create management information requirements
• Document current processes involved in supporting the business

Desktop support:
• PC builds
• PC Client deployments
• Support of the hardware/part replacement
• Microsoft office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook etc)
• Key business applications (IFS, AS400, Catia, Smarteam etc)
• Manufacturing IT systems installations- SCSi, RS232
• Understanding of Controllers and PLC
• Management of IT Service incidents to resolution
• Technical resolution of IT Service incidents
• Liaison with specialist support organisations
• IT Service management input to new requirements and technologies
• Implementation of IT Change requests
• Adherence to IT Service processes and procedures
• Adherence to IT Change processes and procedures
• Adherence to IT Security processes and procedures
• Support documentation for BAU take-on

Qualifications and Experience:

Essential competencies:
• HND or equivalent
• ITIL v2 awareness
• At least 2 years working with relational databases & business applications. ie Access
• Extensive use of SQL / Query extracting data for business reporting / use.
• Windows desktop operating systems (Windows 7, XP, 2000)
• Diagnostic tools (BART PE)
• Microsoft Office Suite (2003 onwards)
