Working in a small but highly technical team analysing vast amounts of data in the energy sector - this role has an excellent opportunity to join a small and specialist organisation that have an incredibly strong reputation in their market.

Company Background:

The company are a well-established and internationally recognised company specialising in the analysis and insight driven from huge amounts of data in the energy sector. This role is working in a small and specialist team combining advanced statistical analysis and algorithmic development to derive very commercially focused customer insight.

Role and Responsibilities:

-Combine an expertise in statistical analytics with software engineering in order to create novel and complex algorithms
-Work with a range of software languages and statistical packages, with a combination of some of the following; R; SQL; Matlab; Octave; SAS; SPSS; Hadoop; Java; Python; MapReduce; C++; Scala; Cassandra
-Communicate closely between the technology and commercial teams
-Understand and strategise the global market of Retail / Customer insight
-Create examples, prototypes, demonstrations and user cases to take to the market
-Communicate effectively with clients and customers to help demonstrate the use and benefits of the products

Skills Required:

-A commercial and academic track record of Analytics, advanced statistics, insight, algorithmic development, Data mining, forecasting, Big Data etc.
-Experience of a range of statistical packages, such as; R, Matlab, Minitab, SAS, Octave, SPSS, LaTeX
-Good experience with a range of software languages and tools; SQL, Hadoop, Java, Scala, Cassandra, Akka, NoSQL, MapReduce, C++, Python
-Good understanding of design and architecture principles
-Experience of liaising with and communicating with clients, customers and stakeholders
-Exceptional communication skills
-Strong academic track record - ideally MSc or PhD in a numerical/mathematics discipline
-Strong work ethic, an ability to work autonomously and as part of a team

Location: Oxford

£35,000 - £60,000 plus benefits
