This role provides the opportunity to be involved with a project that aims to rapidly expand a highly ambitious data system. The expectation is that a Data Engineer will be involved in the transition towards a data streaming platform by developing the existing Hadoop ecosystem and implementing an ambitious new system built with Kafka at its heart.

The Company:
The role of Data Engineer will involve working for a well known sports broadcasting company that are making a notable impression within a competitive market. They are aiming to create a live streaming platform that will rival the like of Netflix and BBC iPlayer. The company is highly ambitious with expansion into the European and Asian markets predicted to continue occurring at an exponential rate. Despite this the has managed to create a warm office environment in which sports is never far away from the conversational topic.

The role:
The role itself will involve working within a tight knit group of Data Engineers. However, variety won't be compromised as you will be expected to work closely within the Database, Network, BI and applications teams. Moreover, the role will essentially involve a significant amount of work on the existing Hadoop ecosystem to be undertaken. The role of Data Engineer will provide the opportunity to work on ambitious projects such as developing the live streaming potential of the Data Platform.

Your Skills and Experiences:
Strong hands on Python, Hadoop, and Spark is essential
Experience using Java and Kafka is preferable
Strong communication skills to interact with the rest of the team is crucial
