Data Architect

My client is an e-commerce platform in Cardiff who are about the scale globally so are looking to expand their tech team and in the process hire for a Senior DBA.

·You will be responsible for ensuring data quality and integrity standards

·Own the strategic design and implementation plan for the company's database systems

·Monitor database performance, tune, and implement changes when necessary

·Ensure database systems are of high availability, quality and security

·Determine, document and enforce database policies, procedures and standards

·Control and assign access privileges of each end-user to maintain security of databases

·Provide continuous maintenance and improvement of each of Sonovate’s database systems

·Work closely with the Development team to ensure solutions are fit-for-purpose and timely

·Troubleshoot and provide both proactive and reactive support to end-users

·Provide a strong link between Sonovate’s technical teams

Required Skills

·5 or more years’ experience working as a Database Architect, or similar equivalent role

·Experience implementing a strategic database design change

·Good knowledge of Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS)

·Extensive knowledge of database query languages (e.g. Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, Teradata, MySQL, PL SQL, PostgreSQL)

·A good understanding of the requirements and principles of GDPR

·Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment, where technology is disparate and ever-evolving

·Excellent knowledge of data backup, recovery, security, and integrity best-practice

·Strong problem-solving, analytical and organisational skills

·University qualification in an IT discipline, or equivalent relevant certification

Desirable Skills

·Familiarity with the creation and upkeep of APIs

·Experience working with cloud technology (e.g. Microsoft Azure, Amazon AWS)

·Experience working in less-common database environments (e.g. Raven, Postgres)

·Experience with scripting languages (e.g. Python, C++, Ruby, PowerShell)

·Experience working within an Agile development environment
