Your new role
As a security engineer, you'll work with the support of your team to monitor virus reports, undertake investigations, respond to incidents and project manage security initiatives across the organisation. You'll utilise sophisticated service desk software to track incidents from detection to resolve and remain proactive in training key users on how to mitigate risks. You'll be highly hands-on in the role but have the opportunity to learn about strategy and work on exciting projects.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful you'll need to have a solid understanding of as many of the following as possible: Active Directory, Anti-Virus, encryption, access control, OS security, mobile security, firewalls and TCP/IP networking. Ideally, you'll be degree qualified in a relevant computer/security field. A great head start in your new job would be any recent security qualifications such as CISSP, CEH or MS certs.
