Customs Clearance Operator - Freight Forwarding - Felixstowe

Role Purpose

To arrange customs clearance of all consignments to meet comapny / customers’ requirements

Responsibilities

Completing customs declarations and submitting to HMRC

• Raising Duty / VAT invoices for any declarations using company deferment account
• Ensure full accuracy of all declarations completed
• Ensure clearance instructions received from the customers
• Ensure customs compliance is maintained with all aspects of HMRC interactions
• Ensure compliance with internal procedures in line with AEO
• Follow up declarations until customs clearance is obtained
• Work with operations / sales / management / directors to assist with any customs queries either internal or external, including but not limited to
  
  • Assist with classification
  • Assist with valuation
  • Assist with documentation
  • Customs procedures
  • Monitor deferment account
  • Ensure any HMRC amendments are completed within reasonable timeframe of an error becoming apparent
  • Promote customs compliance with customers
  • Ensure compliance with internal procedures in line with AEO
  • Monitor and maintain CFSP / Warehousing removals for integrated clients.
  • Remain up to date with any and all changes to pertinent legislation
  • Remain up to date with changes to trade tariff
  • Notify relevant departments of any HMRC changes which may affect customers
