Customer Service Advisor - Part-Time (16 hours) - Glasgow + Competitive Salary + Benefits 

Crawford and Company prides itself on being a world leading multinational company that are continuing to progressively grow in the Claims Management and Loss Adjusting industry. In the UK, Crawford operates through 27 offices all with professional experience and technical expertise to manage claims from start to finish. 

They are now looking for an experienced part-time Customer Service Advisor to join their Glasgow office within the Claims Alert Business Unit which operates within an out of hours operation supporting 24/7 cover throughout the year. The hours are 16 a week - this will be 4 evenings per week. This will either be 5pm - 9pm or 6pm -10pm. However, must be flexible as weekend working will also be required so must be available to work weekends also.

The suitable candidate would ideally come from an insurance background or similar role and have strong customer service skills. Key Responsibilities:

  • Delivers great customer service – listens to, supports and exchanges information with key stakeholders (Insured, Insurance Company, Brokers, Suppliers etc)

  • Receives new claims instructions  and  accurately inputs information onto the appropriate systems

  • Triages calls to ascertain the exact nature and extent of the loss, and where applicable deploys inter Company cross referrals

  • Appoints Adjuster to visit customer by use of internal systems, and upwards referral where required

  • Provides advice, updates and assistance to all parties and where appropriate appoint emergency contractors

  • Ensures Key Performance Indicators and Service Level agreements are met

  • Works as an effective team member and operates effective handover to colleagues where necessary

  • Accurately inputs all required data, such as instructions from the Insurance Company and associated Claim Information

  • Updates Prime events, including Prime tasking

  • Completes  general administrative tasks, including, filing, photocopying, scanning and archiving

  • Ensures Key Performance Indicators and Service Level Agreements are met

  • Maintains awareness of Business Continuity programme and the role Claims Alert Business unit plays.

  • Closely follows legal compliance procedures and  demonstrate knowledge of FSA procedures and the TCF initiative

  • Actively seeks to develop oneself and takes personal  responsibility for training and development


  • Excellent customer service / client relation skills to manage internal & external customers.

  • Excellent organisation skills to deliver high standards of customer service.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to communicate in a concise and open manner

  • Strong influencing skills in order to energise others and get the job done

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and be self motivated

  • Proven efficiency in IT applications (Compass, Prime, Lotus Notes, MS Word, MS Excel)
