Credit Controller

We are currently recruiting for a credit controller to join our growing finance team in Northampton.

Job Title:

Credit Controller

Temp position 3 months initially then go to permanent ;

Reporting to:

Financial Controller, EMEA




37.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday)

Overall purpose of job:

To maintain effective and professional credit control for the Company. Own the company credit control procedures/reconciliation and develop and implement enhancements where required. To manage the outstanding balances falling due and contact customers before the balances become overdue to confirm payments

Main Responsibilities:

· Meet cash & debtor targets set by Company and Invoice Finance

· Chase overdue invoices by telephone, email & letter within agreed timescales

· Assign invoices, payments and receipts both on bank and company systems on a daily basis

· Maintain accurate records of all chasing activity

· Handle disputed bills and negotiate to bring payment within the agreed terms

· Respond promptly and completely to both client and internal enquiries

· Liaise weekly with Invoice Finance provider including ensuring all reconciliations and detail maintained.

· Providing ad-hoc reporting as and when requested

· Identify changes in payment patterns and propose action to avert indebtedness

· Post sales ledger transactions (including invoices, cash and credits) to Sage accurately within agreed timescales

· Investigate and resolve discrepancies between amounts received and amounts due within agreed timescales

· Open new client accounts

· Run Experian reports to assess credit risk for new clients

· Other duties as delegated from time to time by the Finance Manager, Financial Controller or any other person delegated in their absence

Skills Required:

· Experience of working with an invoice finance facility is strongly preferred

· SAP systems experience desirable

· Ability to establish and maintain good client relationships, both internally and externally at all levels

· Excellent IT skills

· Outstanding communication skills

· Organised, focused and have ability to prioritise

· Strong negotiation skills

· Excellent telephone manner and confidence to call clients

· Full experience in managing credit control process

· Ability to influence clients*

· Pursue personal development of skills and knowledge necessary for the effective performance of the role, attend training when required

· Maintain regular and professional attendance, punctuality, personal appearance
