Reed Accountancy are urgently seeking an experienced Credit Controller to join a well-established and highly respected manufacturing business based in Newton Aycliffe. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to a dynamic finance team in a fast-paced environment, starting immediately.

About the Role:

You will play a key role in supporting the finance function by managing the collection of outstanding debts, maintaining accurate customer records, and ensuring the company’s cash flow remains healthy. This is a hands-on role requiring excellent communication, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Proactively chase outstanding payments via phone, email, and letter
  • Monitor and manage customer accounts and credit limits
  • Resolve invoice disputes in collaboration with sales and customer service teams
  • Allocate incoming payments and process credit applications
  • Prepare aged debtor reports and assist with internal financial reporting
  • Negotiate repayment plans and coordinate customer collections
  • Provide general finance admin support and cover for team members as needed

Ideal Candidate:

  • Proven experience in credit control or finance administration (manufacturing sector preferred)
  • Confident communicator with strong negotiation skills
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP)
  • Familiarity with Opera accounting software is a plus
  • Able to handle sensitive information with discretion
